The work of the EI’s Environment Management Group (EMG) focuses on the impact the energy industry has on the environment. In particular it:
- Provides scientific data on which the industry can base its stance on environmental issues;
- Develops codes and protocols to promote good environmental practice;
- Promotes discussion and facilitates understanding of industry issues.
Much of the research is carried out in partnership with other relevant and interested organisations, in particular the Environment Agency (EA), and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
The technical work of the EMG produces publications covering:
- Emissions (air, water and soil)
- Upstream activities
- Microbiology
- Oil spills
