Scope

This standard specifies a colour-indicator titration method for the determination of the acid constituents in aviation turbine fuels at levels below 0,100 mg KOH/g, and provides more sensitivity at these low levels than results from the procedures described in IP 139/ASTM D 974.

Trace amounts of acid constituents remaming after treatment during the refining of aviation turbine fuels may cause corrosion of metals or impair the water separation characteristics of the fuel.

NOTE - For the purposes of this Standard, the terms "%(m/m)" and "%(v/v)" are used to represent respectively the mass fraction and the volume fraction.
