There is a need for standard procedures for the calculation of quantities of light hydrocarbon liquids contained in closed storage vessels in equilibrium with their vapours, or flowing in pipelines. 

Although calculation methods based on ISO 6578 and ISO 91 are available, the detailed calculations, particularly with respect to vapour quantities, are not in many cases standardised and hence differences may occur between supplier and receiver due to different calculation methods used at each end of a supply chain. 

The 3rd edition of this document updates and considerably extends the EI's original publication on calculation procedures and details calculations for the measurement in both static and dynamic operations of refrigerated and ambient temperature LPG. Additional guidance with example calculations is also given for LNG. The procedures include the calculation of vapour quantities.
