This publication provides recommendations for the installation of any radio communication equipment that is permanently mounted in the cab of a petroleum road tanker. Such equipment includes, but is not limited to, cellular telephones, two-way radios, global positioning systems, telematics etc. The recommendations are intended to minimise the risk of occurrence of radio frequency induced sparking in equipment that may be close to, or mounted on, the vehicle. The recommendations are also intended to ensure that under fault conditions the equipment enclosures cannot rise to potentials that may be a source of ignition.

Recommendations are also provided to enable road tanker operators to determine that the installation has been fitted in accordance with this publication. Essential reading for road tanker operators, installation contractors and radio communication equipment suppliers.
