Editorial note: During late 2014 it was identified that not all reported Medial Treatment Injuries (MTIs) had been included in our analysis as part of the 2014 incident data report. These MTIs have now been incorporated and an updated version of the report produced. As a result of this, the Total Recordable Injury Rate (TRIR) has increased to reflect the full number of MTIs which occurred during 2014. In terms of the overall risk profile, after incorporation of these data the top three higher risk work processes remain unchanged (Marine operations, lifting operations and operating plant and machinery). All other results reported, including the Lost Time Injury Frequency (LTIF), remain unchanged.

The G9 is committed to providing the industry with information that will improve health and safety performance. Since the formation of the G9, members have been providing HSE information and statistics for analysis and in order to share lessons learned. By collecting, analysing and publishing incident data it demonstrates:

  • G9 leadership through the development of evidence based work programme, based upon HSE incident data.
  • An understanding and awareness of the HSE issues which form the basis for G9 member operations and stakeholder engagement.
  • A clear desire to improve the safety performance of G9 members and their contractors through the collection, analysis and sharing of HSE information on hazards.

The data collected in 2014 has been analysed and presented in a report, which builds on the 2013 Data report, allowing the industry as a whole to evaluate its performance through the publication of LTIF and TRIR benchmark metrics.

The G9 hope that this report provides a reference for offshore wind health and safety, and continues to be a useful tool for industry to document the evolution and improvements in the sector’s performance.
