In supporting industry's requirement to improve safety, reliability and availability through improving installation integrity, the Energy Institute (EI) has published this publication for the management of maintenance of equipment and structures used for oil and gas exploration, production and refining.

Funded as a Joint Industry Project (JIP), the publication provides an overview of asset maintenance management and related initiatives, capability maturity models and maintenance management processes. In addition to this, the report includes a highly detailed capability maturity model for maintenance management which builds upon experience gained from previous maturity models developed for the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and other duty holders.

Essentially an auditing tool, the capability maturity model will assist duty holders and contractors to assess and, where needed, improve the efficacy of their maintenance organisation. When applied, the model provides a profile of the strengths and weaknesses of the core and supporting processes associated with maintenance activities. It enables users to identify the steps that can improve reliability through improved organisational performance and assess the key issues affecting maintenance performance from the perspective of those undertaking the work.

Whilst the model has been developed using the principles of UK safety management culture, it can also be used to improve maintenance operations in different geographical regions worldwide. Other energy industry sectors (e.g. power generation) may also find this new title useful.

This extensive publication includes a CD Rom containing audit recording sheets (Word format). It is an essential tool for all those involved in managing the operations and maintenance of equipment and structures used for oil and gas exploration, production and refining.

NOTE:

Please contact the EI's publishing team on pubs@energyinst.org if you have purchased this publication in an online format and we will email you the audit recording sheets.
