Please note that HM12 - Meter Proving. Section 3: Code of practice for the design, installation and calibration of pipe provers is now obsolete. Content superseded by ISO 7278-2 (2022) - Petroleum measurement systems — Part 2: Pipe prover design, calibration and operation. This ISO document was supported by representatives from HMC-2 – Refineries and Distribution, using content from HM10/HM12.

The purpose of this code is to specify prover performance criteria and to provide guidelines on the design, calibration and installation requirements necessary to meet these criteria. The code classifies and describes various types of prover, including the larger conventional designs and the smaller compact devices. Pulse interpolation techniques used to increase the discrimination of the meter output during the proving operation are also covered.
