HM43 - Temperature corrections in tank calibration and gauging is a technical report and will not be updated.

This publication considers the effects of temperature in static measurement, specifically its impact on the capacity of vertical cylindrical storage tanks and on the level gauging equipment, whether manual or automatic, used to measure the depth of oil in the tank.

Whilst this subject has been covered in various technical publications and standards over many years, many papers have addressed the effects of temperature on tank capacity and level gauging in isolation and not in combination. This publication illustrates that the two subjects should be considered in combination, otherwise  erroneous corrections may be applied.
