This Standard describes a test procedure for the determination of evaporation loss of lubricating greases under prescribed conditions. The results may be used to indicate the degree of volatile matter present in lubricating grease but no correlation with field service has been  established.

NOTE 1 - The test can be carried out at temperatures between 99 °C to 150 °C but there is only precision for tests carried out at 121 °C.
