As IP 294 no longer meets the requirements of the present day oil industry, the EI's Test Methods Standardization Committee has agreed that it will be withdrawn from the IP Standard Methods Book with effect from 2006. Users wishing to determine the shear stability of these oils are recommended to use the technically equivalent CEC method, L-14-A93 Issue 3 Evaluation of the mechanical shear stability of lubricating oils containing polymers.
