This standard specifies a method for the determination of the aromatic carbon content of mineral lubricant base oils in the range from 0,5 % mole to 13,6 % mole. The method does not cover the determination of concentrations of aromatic compounds in mineral base oils.
NOTE 1 This method can also be applied to finished lubricants provided these products do not contain additives with infrared absorptions near 1 610 cm-1 and 815 cm-1.
