This guidance focuses on the handling of residue products from petroleum road tankers at UK downstream petroleum terminals, by hauliers and distributors.
Hauliers and petroleum distribution terminals have a variety of methods of identifying and dealing with residue petroleum products left on-board petroleum road tankers. This publication reviews the different methods used and considers the safety and environmental risk associated with them.
Consideration is given primarily to the safety and operational aspects; it does not consider the administrative or Revenue and Customs aspects, for which guidance is being developed by the EI.
