These guidelines provide information to enable the development of a strategy for management of external protective coatings for corrosion protection of installations and to assist operators with maintaining integrity of key components throughout the entire life of the installation from construction through to decommissioning.

The guidelines include information on the principal activities associated with developing management strategies and implementation of good practice in the areas of condition survey; assessment criteria; development and implementation of remedial campaigns; roles and responsibilities; communication, and competency requirements for key personnel.

It is expected that these guidelines will be of use to operations and integrity managers; corrosion engineers; technicians; contractors and inspectors, and all parties concerned with the maintenance and remediation and application of coating systems for both offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities, wind turbines and sub stations.
