'This document presents Technical Guidance that captures industry good practice, knowledge and learning relating to the application of performance-based design/assessment (PBD). The context is the Ageing and Life Extension (ALE) of fixed offshore platforms subject to metocean loading. The report provides background, examples and details of the steps that are required for its application. In particular, how to determine the life-safety risk from platform collapse, the risk of environmental pollution, or operational cost due to repair of damage. This will allow the operator/duty holder to demonstrate compliance with in-house, and regulatory requirements

This document provides guidance on the application of PBD for the assessment of fixed offshore jacket structures subjected to metocean loading. The report is concerned with the application of PBD to the global failure of a structure rather than the local loading of safety and environmentally critical elements.  The guidance provides a background to PBD, a summary of the latest work on wave loading, and a discussion of the elements of nonlinear structural analyses.
