Development of this publication was commissioned by the Energy Institute (EI) as part of its STAC technical programme. It has the following objectives:
- To compile technical guidance and information on ageing and life extension topics.
- Identify topics for development of new technical guidance and information.
The report is primarily aimed at the upstream offshore oil and gas sector, where it is recognised that a significant proportion (around 50 %) of the facilities in the UK sector are already operating beyond their original design life. It is also relevant to the downstream sector and other industry sectors with high hazard installations.
