This publication provides a report of work undertaken by Dr Harold Walmsley to develop a test method for the measurement of jet fuel charge densities generated by new filter elements intended to retrofit into existing vessels currently used as filter-monitor systems. It also provides the test method itself, which is a mandatory requirement for the qualification of dirt defence filter elements to EI 1599 Laboratory tests and minimum performance levels for aviation fuel dirt defence filters and the qualification of water barrier filters to EI 1588 Laboratory tests and minimum performance levels for aviation fuel water barrier filters.

The information contained in this publication is essential for manufacturers of aviation fuel filtration systems and all organisations involved in aviation fuel handling, both on the ground and in aircraft.
