Hazard analysis for onshore and offshore carbon capture installations and pipelines
- Published: April 2024
- REF/ISBN: 978 1 78725 416 9
- Edition: 2nd
- Status: Current
This publication is an update to the Technical guidance on hazard analysis for onshore carbon capture installations and onshore pipelines and EI Research report Hazard analysis for offshore carbon capture platforms and offshore pipelines published in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
A decade after their publication, recognising both increased interest in CO₂ capture and storage and the work that has been undertaken in the meantime, the opportunity was taken to restructure the documents. All aspects relating to the hazards associated with CO₂ have been drawn together into this single document, to include approaches to ensuring that hazards for onshore and offshore carbon capture installations and pipelines are appropriately identified, quantified, and mitigated.
With the Good Plant Design for onshore and offshore carbon capture installations and pipelines (2nd ed.), a complementary guidance document is available which provides guidance on the various elements of the CCUS chain (omitting geological storage), gives assistance what is currently perceived as good practice in design and operation.
