This publication has been developed to assist and encourage manufacturers that produce apparatus which is the sole apparatus included in an IP Test Method or associated Technical Report to recognise the significant role of their equipment in certain international petroleum product specifications and statutory regulations worldwide and consequently, the importance of notifying industry stakeholders of significant changes to their apparatus.
IP Test Methods are specified in national and international specifications and regulations covering performance, safety and transport requirements for petroleum products such as aviation fuel, diesel fuel, gasoline, fuel oil and lubricants.
It provides a framework for manufacturers to communicate proposed significant changes to equipment to the EI and for the relevant Test Method Panel to assess the impact of the change. The document includes a diagram of the recommended procedure, expected levels of reporting and, where possible, proof of equivalence. An 'Apparatus Change Notification' model form is also included.
