Scope
This method describes a procedure for the determination of mercaptan sulfur in liquefied petroleum gases. Hydrogen sulfide if present may also be determined. With a 12 I gas sample the method gives a minimum detection level of 14 mg/m3 (as sulfur) for mercaptans and 7 mg/m3 (as sulfur) for hydrogen sulfide. The method is applicable in the presence of acetylenes but cyanides may interfere.
