This document provides guidelines for use primarily by Marine Petroleum Cargo Superintendents (also known as Loss Control Consultants, Cargo Expeditors or Charterers Representatives) during cargo transfer operations and presents recommended practices and/or procedures directed at minimising cargo contamination and losses. In the absence of, or in conjunction with, specific guidelines from the Principal, the following document should be considered a summary of good practice. These guidelines may become contractual between the Principal and the cargo superintendent company if reference is made in either a nomination or acknowledgement.
